What a vis-a-vis carriage is
Vis-a-vis means face to face. In this carriage the passengers sit on two seats that face each other, and the driver sits up front on the box. It is the classic open Victoria style that most people picture when they hear the words wedding carriage: the couple can talk to each other, guests can see them, and a photographer has a clear view from either side.
How venues and ride companies use it
Wedding venues use it for the arrival and the exit, when the couple leaves the ceremony in front of their guests. Event planners book it for photo sessions, proposals and anniversaries. Care between drives
Keep the carriage under cover when it is not working, out of rain and direct sun. Grease the wheel bearings on a regular schedule, and check the brakes and the shafts before each drive. A few minutes of checking before every outing keeps the carriage safe for passengers and ready for the next booking.
Ordering and delivery
Each carriage is built to order, one unit at a time. The lead time is confirmed at order, so you know when to expect it before you commit to a wedding season. Delivery is free curbside liftgate freight to the contiguous US: the truck brings the carriage to the curb and lowers it with a liftgate. Plan to have people on hand to move it from the curb to your barn or carriage house.
