Compost in a long row settles, packs down and heats unevenly: the core gets hot while the outside stays cool and the base runs short of air. A windrow turner fixes that. As it travels along the row, a rotating drum lifts the material, mixes the outside into the middle and drops it back loose and aerated, so the whole windrow heats more evenly and finishes faster than a pile you leave alone or turn with a loader bucket.
This turner suits farms, dairies, horse and poultry operations handling manure and bedding, market gardens making their own compost, landscapers processing green waste, mushroom growers preparing substrate, and small municipal or community composting sites. It is sized for operations that have outgrown turning by hand or with a bucket but do not need a large self-propelled machine.
A pull-type turner uses a tractor you already own. There is no separate engine to buy, fuel or service: the tractor's rear PTO drives the drum and its hydraulics control the machine. It runs beside the tractor on its own wheels, so the tractor drives alongside the windrow rather than over it.
Build your rows up to 2 m (about 79 in) wide and 1.1 m (about 43 in) high to match the 2,000 mm drum. The drum is 600 mm in diameter and the rated turning capacity is 500-900 cubic meters per hour. Plan on a tractor of 60 hp or more with a rear PTO and hydraulic outlets, and leave room beside each row for the tractor to travel.
Dry compost stalls. The optional water tank and spray manifold let you add moisture as the drum mixes the row, so water reaches the material being turned instead of running off the surface.
Each turner is built to order, and the lead time is confirmed when you order. It ships by truck freight to the contiguous US. The machine weighs about 810 kg (1,790 lb), so you provide the unloading equipment, such as a forklift or a loader with forks, and a clear, level spot for the truck to reach.
